Field notes

  • Metal kills range. Use ferrite-backed on-metal tags for doors, panels, equipment housings.
  • Phone must be unlocked to read or write.
  • Pixel senses at center-back. iPhones read from the top-center edge.
  • iPhones only auto-read URL records. Text, Wi-Fi, MIME and app records need a third-party app on iOS.
  • No spaces in links. TAGSMITH strips them.
  • Multi-record is fine on a 215 — watch the byte meter.
